Annual Meeting Notice

Dear Member,

It is my honor to announce our 81st Annual Meeting! We have come a long way since that first meeting in 1936, although much has stayed the same. Being a TLFCU member still means great products and services, as well as an opportunity to vote for key positions within the organization, or even serve as a volunteer!

We will be celebrating another wonderful year with fun, food, give-a-ways,and an all-around good time at our Appleyard Office on Thursday, May 17, 2018. The address for our Appleyard office is 580 Appleyard Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32304. We will be servicing refreshments during registration from 5:00-5:30PM, with the meeting being called to order at 5:30PM.

In accordance with the Credit Union’s bylaws, this nomination and election notice is being sent to you. There is one term expiring on the Board of Directors and the Nominating Committee has nominated the following member(s):

Stephanie Clapp (incumbent) Jenna Tala

Work History: Mrs. Clapp’s experience has included a role at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Jacksonville, followed by a job at the Experiential Housing Allowance Program (forerunner to the federal Section 8 Housing Allowance Program) also in Jacksonville. Here in Tallahassee, Mrs. Clapp set up and ran the Housing Allowance Program for six years before transitioning to the city’s Department of Community Involvement, where she worked in the areas of relocation assistance and housing policy planning for over 11 years. She has since retired from the State of Florida’s Public Service Commission in the area of certification of investor-owned water and wastewater companies in 36 counties.

Education: Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University in Business Administration

TLFCU Connection: Mrs. Clapp has been an active member of TLFCU for over 25 years, serving as a volunteer board member for 19 years. She served as chair in 1996, 1999, 2002-2004, 2008, and 2017.

Work History: Ms. Tala is the Director of Communication and Education for the Florida League of Cities. In this role, she promotes local self-government and delivery of resources, training, and tools to assist city leaders in meeting the needs of their community. Ms. Tala is also tasked with overseeing the Florida League of Cities University – the League’s training division for more than 4,000 elected and appointed officials – as well as the organization’s Center for Municipal Research and Innovation. Her leadership experience includes strategic communications and outreach, building key partnerships and grassroots initiatives.

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication from the University of Central Florida

TLFCU Connection: Ms. Tala has been a member of TLFCU since October 2017.

Nominations for these vacancies may also be made by petition and signed by 60 members. If you would like a nomination package, which includes a petition form, please contact Mike Akers at All petition and nomination packages must be returned to the Credit Union no later than March 7,2018 to be considered.

The election will not be conducted by mail ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor at the annual meeting. If additional qualified nominees are presented in accordance with the procedures above, all persons nominated will be placed before the members at the annual meeting and an election held. Following the vote the results will be announced.
